I just heard a National Public Radio announcer say that a crashed airline was “ENveloped” (rather than envVELoped) in flames.

I want to believe that this use of ENVELOPE as a verb is related to the recent-decades cliche “pushing the envelope.” I am certain that the radio person was reading when she said it. One question would be whether she wrote it herself, before she read it. If it might help, I might find out exactly who said it, and exactly what the quote was. (It happened today, Sept. 1, 2006 CE.)
