While engaged in a DIY task I asked my nearest and fearest to pass me the tack hammer. “Do you mean this tap hammer?” she asked, before explaining that it was so named because it is used to persuade small nails etc to enter wood by gentle tapping rather than the violent blows delivered by its larger brethren.
I’m not going to use the nail gun on this because we’re going to want to be able to pull these back out again. And then with the nail gun, it will be hard to get out. So I’m just going to tap this in with a tap hammer.
The head weight also varies, from a few ounces for a tap hammer to around thirty ounces for those Paul Bunyan types who want to drive a 16 penny nail into oak in three blows.
its a hammer that u just tap things with nokt hit as hard as u can… DUH.. come on
