Old and in the way in any case

“Now your [sic] fining players for legal hits that cause injury to an old decrypted quarterback that should of retired years ago?”—- from an online discussion about a recent on-field event in a National Football League (US) game.

“old decrypted quarterback.”
At first I assumed the writer meant “decrepit,” but now I’m not so sure. After all, you could derive a similar meaning from “decrypted.” Roll away the stone!

Re: Old and in the way in any case

Classic, bluecrab. I mean your explanation; the eggcorn is nice too. You have to wonder, though, whether a spellchecker was involved. As written, it appears that the QB is so old that his plays are an open book, there’s nothing hidden.

See also decrapped and decrapid.

But decrypted suggests a simbling:

I dunno why ur having trouble getting ringtones…Ive seen decrippled old people come in2 the store getting ringtones no problem, so Im guessing ur brain might have moist. dmg or some other malfunction.
Phone whining

I hesitated for a moment. I had never seen anyone so old and decrippled with age, it was almost scary.
online fic

Decrippled can also mean “made good as new”, however, and can be added to Kem’s collection of eggcorns that say the opposite of what the perp intended.
