'damn squid' for 'damp squib'

‘Damp squid’ is already in the database, but I felt this double-yolker variant was worth noting for its clear sense of disapproval if nothing else.

Sorry to put a damn squid on things fellas…

To be fair, the first iPhone was a bit of a damn squid.

I was starting to get the feeling that IE 7 was going to be a damn squid…

The Beaus may have been a bit of a damn squid but all hail The Alychamps who are the other end of the spectrum, stunning.

Argos ended up being a damn squid and refused to sell it after their initial bugger up.

For us ignorami, a damp squib is? A wet firecracker, I suppose? (I don’t remember ever hearing or seeing the phrase.)

Housekeeping.

BP Gulf spill
commentators universally agree that his much lauded White House Address, convened after 5-6 spurting visits to the Oil Spillage Zone, was more of a damn squib than a call to arm.

Political forum
2010 might be one of those pivotal years the analysts will refer to for years to come. Then again it could all be a rather damn squib with only the politicos getting excited.
Response: That would be a damp squib, not a “damn” squib, which makes no sense at all.
