lutefish << lutefisk

Curiously, no one has posted “lutefish” yet. It’s a dead common reworking of lutefisk, the Scandanavian fish (“fisk”) dish that has been treated with lye (“lut”).

Not a good eggcorn. Transgressors have simply moved the second half of the word into English and left the first half in the original language.


Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.
