The example I stumbled upon yesterday was: “The pedal-to-the-medal funk-blues of “You Been Lyin’” has Lewis and band backed by progressive gospel group the Relatives.” (from a CD review).
This one’s on the eggcorn list, though it’s not clear to me how there’s enough of a meaning connection to make sense as an eggcorn rather than just a misspelling.

I’m with you there, Dixon. At the article, Ben notes the “semantic slippage” between “metal” and “medal,” but I need more convincing. Perhaps speakers are thinking of the section of the floorboard where the pedal rests when pressed all the way, but does that really look “medallion-like” on many cars? As a non-driver, I haven’t really paid attention to that level of detail.
