political pundants

Canada is having an election, and this morning I heard two different commontators refer to political pundants. There are 1000 raw pundants on the web, and 500 pundents. Looks like an esculator for pundit.

Re: political pundants

I think that more people pronounce the word as pundant than as pundit.

Re: political pundants

It would be fun to think that there is an eggcorn lurking in “pundant” (or a hidden eggcorn in “pundit”) that was based on the word “pun.” But the meaning of “pun” is tenuously connect to “pundit.” I think.
