“Ornery” means “having an irritable disposition.” And, “honorary” means “having or confering distinction.” Now, I’m going to take a leap of faith here and say that “honory” derives from “honorary” plus the notion of things somehow unearned. (E.g., an “honorary degree”). So, perhaps one may say someone is getting “honory” if he undeservedly expects to be treated with honor.
