Another recollection of an aggrieved lady complaining of the treatment meted out by her ex-lover – “He underminded me”. I have no difficulty in sympathising. Undermining would be pleasant by comparison. If behaving in an underhand manner is objectionable, how much more devastating to have the seat of consciousness itself sapped?
