Cool (non-eggcornish) things I've found while looking for eggcorns

Sometimes you don’t find the eggcorn you were looking for, but what you did find was so cool you (almost) don’t care. I’m pretty much off-topic here, but sometimes I want to share the things I found that ended up having nothing to do with reshapings. And Slinkachu’s nearly microscopic urban art installations are pretty dang cool: http://little-people.blogspot.com/

My niece is a starving artist who leaves intricate art for others to find, too. Not this sort, but drawings attached by potato paste. She pointed me to the Slinkachu site last fall – I agree that it’s pretty cool. I love the latest installations. The cool and not-so-cool stuff you find when looking for eggcorns is a great part of the fun. Ideally, the isolated fragments reported along with an eggcorn will have a found-object feel that creates a little scene, like a Slinkachu.

Agreed. I think the Slinkachu site is among my all-time favorite side-trips—as are the sites at which NNS practice their English by transcribing broadcasts. And Chinese hardware retailers with multiply-retranslated descriptions of their products. Now I wish I’d logged the most interesting stuff I can’t remember anymore. It’s a bit depressing, though, how often reshapings turn out to be on really icky porn sites, and I’m getting so I’m just not going to chase down phrases attached to photographs anymore except when they’re at “trusted sites” like Flikr—my computer had to isolate a virus-infected file just a couple of days ago.

This new trend Slink and your niece are participating in has the potential to turn the phrase “found art” into a stealth eggcorn. (Ha—topicality restored!)

Perhaps some of you have not yet had the pleasure of seeing the astounding 3-D illusions created with chalk on sidewalks by these two amazing artists:
