'rawcuss' for 'raucous/ruckus'

The roughness and harshness of raucous may be reflected in this eggcornish respelling:

The CD that put the band on the map, it’s a roots rock diamond in the rough and a rawcuss portent of things to come.

... we have something simular when England play home rugby internationals at Twickenham (although not as rawcuss I guess!). ...

So they get hold of Hillary and back her(money wise for the presidential candidacy) so that she can create a rawcuss so that people can …

Gosh it is not that personal believe me.. did you see them attempting to cause raw cuss and I know how that can get sometimes. ...

Re: 'rawcuss' for 'raucous/ruckus'

Blastfamy and raw cusses make a good pair this week. Here’s an interesting nonce in the raw cuss guild, not least because of the dyspepsia.

“Rawcuss” complements the “rockous” and “roarcous” versions noted earlier

Lot of “rawcuss” puns out there: could be a picked eggcorn.

Re: 'rawcuss' for 'raucous/ruckus'

I should have added this to the earlier ‘rockous’ thread which I entirely forgot about, despite having posted there myself. I’m surprised none of us came up with this variant then, but perhaps there were no examples around at that time as they were still lurking in the vinegar.

Re: 'rawcuss' for 'raucous/ruckus'

This week a fellow I know added a new variation to the “rockuss,” “roarcuss,” and” rawcuss” we noted in this thread. He referred to the “rawkish” noise of the local ravens. It fits: one of the sounds made a raven is something like “RAAAWK.”

“Rawk” is also a slang term for rock music (“rawk on, dude”), so we might expect to find “rockish” replacing “raucous.” It’s hard to find good examples on the web, though, because “rockish” is a sublexical term meaning “sounding like rock music.” Hard to know when people are substituting it for “raucous.”
