'sedimentary lifestyle' for 'sedentary lifestyle'

There’s a vague resemblance between guys who spend the weekend recumbent before a TV and the stuff that accumulates at the bottom of ponds. Over 3,000 ghits:

Why are fat people so fat? I blame it on lack of self control, sedimentary lifestyle (ever walk or ride your bike for transportation) and supersized “meals”.

Re: 'sedimentary lifestyle' for 'sedentary lifestyle'

Eggcorns sometimes cut both ways… If sedimentary is mistaken for sedentary, then maybe sedentary is also mistaken for sedimentary. (See examples below). Even so, I wouldn’t call these eggcorns since the writers probably have no idea that “sedentary” means “doing much sitting.”

Re: 'sedimentary lifestyle' for 'sedentary lifestyle'

I just ran into this (“Limestone is basically just a sedentary rock. Marble is metamorphic, granite is igneous …”, spoken by a pretty well-educated lady, who had been in the rock business for years, though she has been in other business now for years.) I think it is likely eggcornish for some: it certainly makes sense. Sedentary rock forms when the silt/dirt just sits there without moving.
