Renounced for renowned

From an online review of the Food Network TV show, “Chopped”:
“Each round one chef is Chopped by three renounced judges in the industry.”
Perhaps their decisions were so bad that they had to resign…and then became renowned for it?

Re: Renounced for renowned

A funny error. There are two other hits for “renounced judges” out there. I wonder if it’s a blend with “announced” or “pronounced”? A cupertino for “renouned”? The spellchecker on this site offers ‘renounced’ as the first choice for ‘renouned’. Could ‘renouned’ be interesting in its own right, or is that too much of a stretch?

I typed ‘wounder’ before correcting myself.
