'pubic synthesis' for 'pubic symphysis'

A common and vaguely similar word subsituted for a rare one. The pubic symphysis is a pelvic joint. About 200 ghits:

A statement said that Henson was diagnosed with damage to the pubic synthesis,
a cartilaginous joint where the pubic bones meet each other.

Re: 'pubic synthesis' for 'pubic symphysis'

I’m surprised to see the pubic symphysis error twice in the Mayo Clinic article—you would think they’d proofread a little more carefully!

Medical eggcorns are in a class by themselves, and I thoroughly enjoyed your ‘infantigo’ contribution. As adults they can look forward to ‘prostrate’ problems and ‘old-timer’s’ disease!
