My boss regularly refers to ‘A real mindfield’. I know what she means and I think her version is an improvement on the usual one.

bob – Did you see the MINE/MIND thing in the Eggcorn Database? It seems to me that MINDFIELD fits in pretty well, particularly if your boss is talking about complex problems that are difficult to figure out. But I am not the authority. One of the big guns probably will answer you soon.
