Once beaten, twice shy

How many jolly eggcorns we have found from those dialects where bitten and beaten, not to say bidden, are homophones. “Once beaten, twice shy” strikes me as more forceful than the original.

Here are some other reworked idioms, going off the beaten path. The first is a singleton, and the more precious for that.
