'tempt faith' for 'tempt fate'

Just heard it in conversation for the first time. Google finds many other usages.

Nice eggcorn. I just thought I’d chime in because I located a related eggcorn: “on that FAITHFUL day” for “on that fateful day.” which I posted a while back. I actually like your eggcorn better because it has more economy to it and is probably more widespread. If you do happen to run another Google search on your two terms, be sure to include the quotation marks to keep the words proximal to one another, and record the number of hits. I’d sure like to see a few examples off the internet if you’ve got the time to hunt for them.
