"quarter ballet" for corps de ballet

One more from the misheard/misanalyzed foreign language borrowings quarter. The dancers who dance in synchronized support of the soloists are called the corps de ballet. Or the quarter ballet in the following hits. They’re not full lead dancers – they’re just quarter ballet dancers.

Men can start at that age…especially in my school. They can sign up for Beginning Dance. We start off with a full quarter ballet.
