mummy-cuddle < molly-coddle

On Wife Swap tonight the one guy said his wife “mummy cuddles” the kids.

Quite few examples on the interweb too. Adrian

Re: mummy-cuddle < molly-coddle

I ran into this one on the CBC comments board about student protests in Montreal today.

Life in Canada has become all too easy for all too many of us pampered and mother cuddled “give it to me now”...... types. Nest pas…..?
Damn spoiled student protestors

Cuddle may be related to words like the Fr. coller, “stick to, embrace” and O.E. couth, “familiar”. Coddle was originally a warm drink for invalids. Here are more variants.

He’s a mommy-coddled basement dwelling mama’s boy POS loser.

It only takes a few text-networking “Growing-Up-Gotti” eyebrow-plucking hoodie-fairies with “no stable father figure” and a mommy-coddled ego to cock up a whole neighborhood.
