Just a misspelling, or do people imagine that gorillas have some special skills that, when emulated, can lead to victory in war? Has anyone else seen this one?

I think it’s much more than a misspelling. It could very well be an eggcorn, and I daresay a pretty widespread one at that! It is not unreasonable for someone to imagine “gorilla warfare” as combatants hanging out in trees (like gorillas) ready to pounce on the enemy. (For I don’t recall what age I was when I stopped imagining it as such!)
