'canopy jar' for 'canopic jar'

While thinking about column burial (see that thread) and other forms of “well-urned rest”, I thought of this one and turned up 25 ghits:

”’They have strange burial rites,’ he remarked as Daniel regarded a page with an engraving of a mummy and a priest sealing the inner organs in a canopy jar.”
http://www.pepesplace.co.uk/PastLivesCh … gDebts.htm

A lot of references seem to be narratives of video game solutions:
“Finding first the two Guardians Keys later on you’ll find two more a Hand a Canopy Jar and a Vraeus is the main goal here.”

‘Canopic’ is derived from Canopus, a bright star in the consellation Argo, while ‘canopy’ appears to go back to a Greek word referring to an Egyptian couch with mosquito netting – so there are some Egyptian connections.

Tunisia, which stood in for Obi-Wan Kenobi’s desert planet Tatooine, is in North Africa but not actually adjacent to Egypt.
But perhaps this person was thinking of him.
Fanfic: ” One of the masked men walks over to an alter with a kenobic jar and brings it over to the table.”

Re: 'canopy jar' for 'canopic jar'

Perhaps since the Egyptians put vital organs inside them, they are canonic jars. Or maybe because they are cylindrical like cannons.
Lesson plan: “Then they removed the organs and placed them individually in canonic jars. These needed to be preserved for the afterlife.(Pass around a homemade version of a canonic jar).”
Q&A Board: “Instead they took very special pains to wrap up the heart and put it back into the corpse – or put it in a canonic jar for safe keeping.”

Larrybob, congratulations are in order, you’ve just been canonized Eggcornista. The tree house is up here, way up in the canopy. Come on up, we’re having grey-matter canapés.

An it was interesting to note that in Egypt, the heart was considered the most important organ for this revelation knowledge, the brain was basically sucked up and thrown into a canape jar or discarded.

What may I offer you from our impressive treetop wine cellar? Now, if you’d just step over to our illuminated register...

We’ve been remiss lately in bringing that down from the shelf. In the rush, I see we’ve somehow missed soliciting entries from yanogator and Dixon.

Did you mean to point larrybob to our autobiographical thread?
