I saw this in an excerpt from a movie review on the Rotten Tomatoes website: “Knightley will be a forerunner for an Oscar. She is astounding as Anna.” Meaning-wise, “forerunner” for “front-runner” makes eggcornish sense. I don’t remember ever hearing or seeing this one before, and it hasn’t been mentioned on the Eggcorn Forum. I can’t figure out how to google it in such a way as to get an estimate of how often it may be used eggcornishly. Has anyone else here seen or heard this one?

Oh, yeah, good idea! It would seem to be an eggcorn in fairly common usage, then.
