I was just clambering around in the attic and it brought to mind some friends years ago who always referred to insulation as “installation.” Still do, probably. Too hard to find using google so I don’t have any examples other than personal experience. It actually seems to be a fairly common eggcorn around this part of NY.
Fairly obvious I think where the alternate imagery comes in.

had trouble finding anything until i spelled it wrong. Got 110 hits on google for “fiberglass instalation”. Most seem like good ones. Spelled corectly, a lot of the results are for literally installing fiberglass of different types. But I found http://www.stanekwindowsmilwaukee.com/g … .asp?ID=57 and http://www.homex.co.za/diy_view.aspx?diyid=14 and http://www.moviequotes.com/fullquote.cgi?qnum=125858 and http://blross.typepad.com/luxury_clues/ … lowed.html

Is your installation installed correctly?
question site: “Under house pink installation???? I asked this question a few days ago. I got a lot of people saying both…so I’m not sure which is right yet.. Someone in my family had installation put under his house. It’s the type of installation that’s pink fiber glass on one side and paper on the other. The people who did it put the paper side up, towards the floor and pink side down. So when you look under the house you can see the pink. Some family members say it’s done right, and some say it’s done wrong (upside down) WHICH IS THE RIGHT WAY!!!!! If you have any websites that can back it up post a link please, if not just tell me which way you think is right! THANK YOU!!!!”
Round-trip?
art essay: “She works with pieces of insulation art and looks at how they are placed. The piece of work I concentrated on was an insulation piece called “All those eyes†which is a photograph of the large piece statue of Michael Jackson and his pet monkey bubble by Jeff Koons from1988.”

I used to work for a company named “American Insulation”. A significant part of its marketing was to lower income people who may not have been able to afford other home improvements, but could finance insulation though the utility companies. It had a small telemarketing department and one of the problems was teaching the employees to not say “American Installation”. Even when some of them got the company name correct, they would then still go on to speak of “blowed-in installation”. The trouble was that the people they were talking to called it “intstallation”, too.
