jumped shot

came across this recently and wonder if it is an eggcorn. sort of has the whiff of an eggcorn, but not sure.

“Sacramento fell behind early and battled back in a tough fourth quarter. Kevin Martin missed a jumped shot with seconds remaining that would….”

found many such instances on google. (“The Panthers missed a jumped shot at 15.8 seconds on their end and Potts pulled down the rebound ….” “Yes, he feigned a jumped shot and dribbled for the …” etc.

Re: jumped shot

I wouldn’t put this in the eggcorn bin. It doesn’t meet the “changed imagery” criterion. You have to wonder about WTF typoism as well, where the surrounding past tense verbs ending in -ed have primed the typing fingers. A similar mechanism is the possible source of the malaprop I entered today, “cudgels of the heart”, where just a few words away sits “curmudgeonly”.
