I heard this tonight on the radio, from a retiring sports hero who was not taking something seriously. I understood it as “take it as something unimportant” instead of the original “take it with a large degree of skepticism”. There are hundreds of hits for this one.
If a prophecy is outside the Bible, I’d take it as a grain of salt. It could be real, but it is most likely false.

Yes, this is a good one. Somewhat parallel (but different), so please don’t take it as a fence (which I don’t suppose is an eggcorn).
