"infested with" for "invested with"

“Being invested with something” and “being infested with something” have strikingly different connotations – the former’s usually associated with positive (or at least desirable) qualities like meaning, power, and control, and the latter’s associated with parasites or corruption. But they do share certain semantic parallels: they both refer to qualities that are imposed from without, and both investment and infestation have a tendency to define one’s identity. I can’t be sure, however, that these aren’t just typos – “f” and “v” are right next to each other on the keyboard. This is obviously hard to search for, but seems pretty rare. Examples:

Intriguing as the alternative imagery may be, I fear you may be right about the typos; googling “invested by” various vermin yields the following solitary examples…

Re: "infested with" for "invested with"

A search on “invested with” various vermin rather than “invested by” returns quite a few, rather than solitary results. Though perhaps it’s just become more popular in the time since the last post – there are plenty for “invested by” as well.

Google search: “invested with bedbugs”

There seem to be three uses for the word “investation”:

For infestation: “Caution-Bed Bug Investation”

For investigation: “police investation in davy jones death”

For investment: “How to Invest In Gold for Your Business Investation”
(note last link is to a site which may be invested with spam.)
