I have come across three “popular” phrase manglings in the past few months… One was a friend repeating a recipe to her mother over the phone – when she told her to caramelize the onions her mother asked her what “caramel eyes” were…
This same friend herself once told me that something I had said had “peeked” her interest. This is perhaps more of an eggcorn, as conceivably she was interested enough to “peek” further… If she had used “peak” then her interest could be said to have reached its height…
Finally, there are a number of people around me who will insist that they are “weary” of something whenever they mean “wary”. I expect they are both tired and apprehensive at the same time…

Deniz – People here have been interested in your wary/weary thing. I do not know how to connect to the older posts here, in my reply, but, if you click on “Search” at the top of this page, and enter wary , you will find half a dozen interesting posts.
