Spotted this in one of my favorite blogs, How to Split an Atom: “Here is an interesting commercial to tithe you over.” Unlikely that it’s a typo. A Google search turned up eight additional citations. I’ve tried to decipher the logic: We often need money to “tide us over” (until the next payday, say). Tithing, of course, also involves money. Perhaps the writer was hoping his fellow parishioners would drop a few extra coins in the collection box as a tithe on his behalf.
