More an example of illiteracy than an eggcorn, like “do to” for “due to” or “peak” for “pique.” But I haven’t posted anything here in like forever, so there you go.

Ha, I too saw this one on fbook. I thought it might not qualify as an eggcorn, since there’s no real change of imagery. We might need another category for shifts like this one, that are analogous to eggcorns but operate on some other tortured plane of literacy. It has become second nature to studiously eschew the ill word.
