Surprisingly many hits: must be standard for someone. One of those that winds up with a kind of opposite for a meaning; incompatible with most common contexts. A counter-eggcorn, or what terminology have we used for those? (A corn-egg? Nah.)

Looks a bit like a cupertino. The person types “renouned,” the spellchecker flags it, and the person picks “renounced” from the list.
Here’s the thread where we discussed antonymic eggcorns. I suggested the name “DNA eggcorns.” We’ve had quite a number of these. “Qualm/calm,” “temerity/tenacity,” etc. “Anticorns” might be another tag. Or “eggkittycorns.”
Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.

I’d like to interview a perp on some of these. The oppositeness of the meaning seems like it ought to be a very strong barrier to true eggcornhood, keeping these in the “slips, innovations and reshapings†section. Perps can hardly be construing “renounced†with its standard meaning, and coming up with something that fits the contexts where it is used. But perhaps they are reconstruing the re – prefix to one of its many other meanings, and doing something with the nounce stem ( pronounce, enounce, announce, denounce … ?_
