The Eggcorn Database cites the confusion of “girdle one’s loins†and “gird one’s loins.†The switch is not a very high-octane eggcorn, when you think about it. “Gird/girt/girth/girdle†all descend from the same Teutonic ancestor and their meanings have not wandered far from the source.
A more ambitious skew of “girdle†is “girldle.†The spelling with “girl†in it occurs on hundreds of web pages. Many of the misspelling examples may be triggered by anticipation of the “l†coming up in the second syllable. In some of the instances, though, the traditional perception of girdles as girl equipment have probably influenced the spelling change.

Would work better if girl meant “overweight over-mature femaleâ€, but maybe that’s what the referenced item is sposeta turn such a person into? Funny, in any case.
