This should roughle a few feathers

Yes, their dad took them out for a steak dinner and roughled both their hair affectionately.

The etymology of ruffle is uncertain, unfortunately. This one came to me in mauling over a reference to “roughed grouse”, on facebook.

Re: This should roughle a few feathers

Probably not an eggcorn, but related:

the husk and all the remaining ruffage

Thot for the Day: I didn’t claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat ruffage!

My son is working on a pic with the diners slapping each other’s high-held palms while the waiter brings a food tray replete with doilies: high-fiver food with lots of ruffage.

I find “roughle” to be a quite beautiful eggcorn. It gives a crystal clear image that totally makes sense, and, at the same time, elicits a chuckle. Well played.
