milksob << milksop

A literal milksop is a squishy piece of bread soaked in a liquid, such as milk. The word “milksop” tends to be used in a figurative sense these days, however. A metaphorical milksop is a person with no backbone, a wallflower, a Walter Mitty whose dreams outpace his deeds.

The web has a few instances of “milksob”—still the same puling personality, now imaged as a person who might spend too much time crying over spilled milk.
.

Book review: “Charlie in the book is much more of a milksob than the movie version in which he comes accross as likeable and genuinely nice.”

Blog entry: “This excuse-making, bias-forgiving milksob is the same clown who attempted to impose laws on our non-government media.”

Web journal: “Cutest competitor was the Russian milksob, I even don’t remember his name, but when he was deleivered at my door tied in easy knots”
