Yes, very nice!

It does seem like tied and tight ought to be etymologically related back of all that, but it was all a long time ago … the etymology sites don’t link them, but they both peter out at the “Germanic” stage, and the ancestral meanings of “tie(d)” and “dense, compact” aren’t all that close.
