decanner < decanter

The alchemical “decant” puts in an appearance now and then in chemistry contexts. It’s the winebibbers, though, who have managed to keep the word current.

Your Certificate of Oenology is automatically revoked if you tell your guests that you have “decanned the red wine.”

They might be thinking of the khaki ceramic-lined jerry can, carefully marked “VIN” and religiously protected by French troops.
