Exempt/Except

I have a tax except investment. Where I should put it on the tax return?

Once Elected , will Romney let Non-Mormon orgs keep their Tax Except status?

I think that they should lose their tax-except status.

Surely this has been spotted before?

The Board of Directors is not pleased with your exuberance, but they have accepted your explanation and are willing to make an exemption

“Willing to make an exception” is a fixed expression, but “make an exemption” is a reasonable alternative. Perhaps the variation on “take exception to” is eggcornier:
