Overwriting <- overriding

The use of overwriting for overriding is metaphorical, self-referential, cybernetical and eggcornical.

There is no overwriting “lesson” per sey, these are for “entertainment only.”

It’s also a needed updating. “Overriding” made a lot more sense in the seventeenth century.
