This is an under-the-radar eggcorn that seems obvious in hindsight. Nipples are nibbled, after all. Many hits refer to the nibbles on pets.
Now I placed my fingers on my right nibble, slowly but surely spreading it out, working it in. I felt a slight tingle, as the nibble absorb the gel, as I work it in.

So, DH took the schnauzer to the groomers. Got her all shaved for the summer. The 7 year old is playing with her and says, “Look! Her nibbles are all sticking out big.” Her DH asks if she is going to correct him. (Laughing so hard she can barely talk while telling me this) she tells him no.

These have to be related back somewhere in Germanic. neb/nib as a small projecting part, nip as to take a peck (with the small projecting part that is a beak?) at some small (projecting) piece of something, nipple as a small projecting part to be nipped at by a baby or a lover, nibble as a repetitive, less brusque kind of nipping at the nibs …

(Getting even a bit further into phonaesthetic territory: nicking the nick in the nick of time, picking nits, a niche for knick-knacks, snip; tip, slip, flip as opposed to tap, slap, flap or top, slop, flop, etc.)
