Today I encountered this in a film discussion :
On the other, because Nolan is a psychological realist, he’s acutely aware of the toil such lives may take on those who choose to lead them…
Searching on “takes a toil on” yields scores of plausible examples, such as:
Now I don’t do that anymore because I realize it takes a toil on the health in the long run.

Surely it’s an eggcorn. “Toil” and “toll” both denote a sacrifice one makes to get somewhere.
Searching on “toil road” yields a few good ones, such as:
It was said that the new M4 motorway would be paid by the goverment, they were in talks to see what money they will get back from wales, it was suggested that the new M4 motorway will be a toil road

I think “toil road” is eggcornish too. They all used to have toll-takers, so someone was toiling, as opposed to an ordinary road that functions unattended.
Searching on “toiling bells” yields:
The ambiance of streets with sound of toiling bells from the churches in the air, makes everyone fill with joy.

First presented in the Polish Pavilion at the 55th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia, the sound object is primarily based on the manipulation of the sound of toiling bells.
music description
The bells continued to toil and no one came.
fan fiction
When bells are ringing they are doing their work; they are toiling.
Of course I had to see if it’s a round-tripper. Searching on “tolling hard” yielded:
This is what seems to be the driving force and keeps on cajoling the artists to keep on tolling hard to strive for the success that could transform them into a commercial star.

I agree—“takes its toil on” for “takes its toll on” seems like an eggcorn. And “toiling bells.” Not sure about toll road and the round tripper.
Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.

“Bell toils” already on the Forum:http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=5193 Though this is a different sense of “toll.”
