Goes without staying

Found this one in a facebook comment today: a substitute for “goes without saying.”

Not much evidence of it elsewhere on the web. Just three hits where it’s clearly acting like an eggcorn; a couple others were the same phrase but not standing in for “goes without saying”.

Kinda cool—it goes without staying that this is a way of really going, right? Some other things stay without going, that’s for sure.

For us lazy ones, post a couple of examples with a bit more context, with a b-q-period marker before, like so:

It goes without staying that the ethnographer needs a command of this literature, to be able to engage it alongside his or her interlocutors.
