Eye score (for "eyesore")

I saw “eye score” yesterday in the comments section of a NZ news site.

It should be a requirement for all new immigrants to NZ …. Stay in Auckland.
Some suburbs in Hamilton look like a back street of a Middle eastern country. They don’t work and a lot of them never will. They take up housing, there a burden on the tax payer and the entire country.
There an eye score. Stay in auckland

I searched for some others. They’re obviously not that easy to find, with so many real eye scores out there, mostly relating to dogs. But there are actually quite a few, such as:

Los Santos City Utilities Workers may access private property to remove graffiti from property, if said property is exposed to public view, and is causing an ‘eye score.’

Either make him clean up the land so it can be sold or the city should clean it up and send the bill to him. This has gone on away too long. This guy’s property is an eye score and an embarrassment to the city.

This house is an eye score to the neighborhood.
An eye score?!? That’s a good thing, right?

The image I’m getting from “eye score” is an incision or cut that badly damages the eye. But it could also be a blot on the landscape so bad that your eyesight is impaired, hence lowering your score in an eye test. These explanations are a bit far-fetched, I know. More likely, these are sports fans, or they just happen to think it sounds right.

“High score” may be influencing “eyesore >> eye score.”

Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.
