Welcome, Rick. You were right to put this one under “reshapings”, I think. I guess it’s a sort of eggcorn, though one where the original imagery is more striking.
It’s certainly common. It was first posted to the Eggcorn Database in 2005. There are no instructions on the welcome page about how to look for previous entries. The most comprehensive search, of both the socalled Database and this forum, can be accomplished by clicking on the Eggcorn Database above, then entering a keyword in the lower slot at the right. When I enter “doggy” there, this is what turns up.
