"misconscrewed" for "misconstrued"

As in, “He totally misconscrewed my words. He missed my point.”

Aw… I thought I had a new one. A student writes: “I do agree that gender roles do get misconscrewed at times….” Too perfect.

Possibly an eggplant, with punnish origins.

In a Language Log discussion, one commentator cites another perpetrator: “About 40 years ago, I knew a guy who said ‘misconscrewed’ all the time. It wasn’t a slip of the tongue or a deliberate attempt to be funny–he thought that was the actual word.”

Republican Presidential primary candidate Ben Carson appears to use “misconscrewed.” See 1:53 of the video at http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/08/politics/ … index.html

Here it is, in its self-referential glory.
