Two mondegrenous eggcorns based on an alternative root-word found lurking within a longer and presumably obscure multisyllabic acorn. The first was suggested by someone’s pronunciation of obfuscate on the radio, as if it were obviouscate. Few could recognize the etymon of obfuscation, which is cognate with dusk and means “darkening”. I get the feeling that the third hit was reaching for avoid, perhaps through some blend with obviate? Only one good hit suggesting a link to skating, which is also used, in French at least, to suggest “avoiding the issue.”
They are now doing what they do best, hyping, spinning, obviouscating, and downright bulshitting.

The second is just plain suggestive. It’s hard to see how the perps have connected intimidation with intimate dating. Suggestions? Getting in your face? The needle is hovering over “mondegreen”.

“Obviouscating” seems like it has eggcorn potential. So few examples, though—could just be a spelling burp. But it should be checked in a few more years.
