It might be interesting to record when we went looking for an eggcorn only to find that it had already been bagged.
Today I thought of “holidays sauce” for “hollandaise sauce” and “asian orange” for “agent orange”.
On the plain in Spain where it mainly rains.

I dreamt up “a croc of shit” today. Been beaten to it though.

This happens to me all the time—I posted on “newmonic” just today, though I was pretty sure someone had beaten me to it even before I logged on.

I’ve just looked up acidulous/assiduous and found that it’s already been posted. To kampong my frustration, it seems I posted it myself.

This (“discovering” an eggcorn only to find that it’s already been discussed here) happens to me all the time. I’m sure it’s more common now than when this thread was started, since the pool of undiscovered eggcorns is probably not growing as fast as we shrink it by discovering them. Often, I post my example anyway, just adding it to the existing thread, to resurrect the thread for the enjoyment of others who haven’t seen it (or don’t remember it). And, like Peter, I sometimes find that the pre-existing thread already has comments from me.
