All,
My cousin is at it again!
Yesterday, when commenting on our city’s poorly-planned street repair program, my cousin insisted that the work crews had built the new traffic lanes without any “meridian” separating them. She concluded huffily by stating that safe drivers will not feel comfortable with a lack of a “road meridian” separating themselves and the oncoming traffic! :)

The confusion goes both ways. We also find “prime median” for “prime meridian” and “Greenwich median” for “Greenwich meridian.” Google hits for the prime version and Google hits for the Greenwich version. The terms are close to being flounders, dictionary words that replace each other in polyvalent contexts.
Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.
