I heard this the other day when a young lady was describing her excitement about having a new leash on life. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that it was a new lease on life. Then it struck me, a new leash on life could work too. It has a certain quality of power and control over one’s destiny I liked it, but it definitely belongs here.

I like it too, though the picture I somehow got at first had the young lady on the other end of the leash, with a new master running her life. The interpretation you gave makes somewhat better sense, but this one insists on persisting in my mind.

The correct form is “a new lease of life” :-)

Hello,
I’m new to this forum but I find my self in a hilarious situation that I had to reply this thread.
I was googling for “A New Leash On Life”, it’s an animal shelter that a friend of mine told me about it , a very interesting project by the way. I was going through the results and found this thread . I start to read the first post without even see the forum title and what was all about.. I was so lost but then I started to understand and I laughed so much.
Very good interpretation and funny must say.
Thanks
Kind Regards
Sarah VD
