I wonder if Vitus Bering had to endure endless ribbing about his name when wandering aimlessly about the North Pacific, exploring. I found a reference to the Bearing Sea in a student’s thesis. There are other hits that make this look like a potential Lehman’s term with nautical connotations.
Food-web structure and the fractionation of carbon isotopes in the Bearing Sea.
(student thesis)
They were assigned to each Coast Guard cutter patrolling the Bearing Sea… Storms were violent at sea at that time of year, except in the northern part of the Bearing Sea.

Another potentially consonant term would be the Bearing Land Bridge, which supported the exploratory efforts of Siberian colonists, and the Baring Land Bridge that allowed the colonization of the Americas by disrobing. More than a hundred hits for the first, and thirty-some for the second too.
Their reign came to an end between five and seven million years ago, when lowered sea levels exposed the Baring Land Bridge.
Paean to hyenas
Some have suggested that this scripture is merely predicting that sea level will fall, causing Eurasia and Alaska to be “reconnected†via the baring land bridge.

How did Native Americans cross the barren land bridge, if it formed 6,000 or so years before earth existed?
If the earth is around 5,600 years old, and the barren land bridge which connected Russia to North America came around 12,000 years ago, how did people travel to North America so long ago?
