I once knew a fellow who frequently misquoted the idiom “leaking like a sieve” as “leaking like a cyst.” shudder I also knew someone who would often say “the chip doesn’t fall far from the block.”
In some ways these mangled idioms seem superior to the originals.
I found two hits before I couldn’t go on, both from the mechanically keen.
Leaks like a cyst, original carb, trans, diff’s, transfer case.

I saw this bike on Craig’s List, from what I could see, it was leaking like a cyst.
