I’ve never seen, or at least noticed, this, and I like it very much! Thanks for bringing this one up, which if I understand the concept and am paying attention, seems like an eggcorn to me.
I feel this describes the two halves of the current American political campaign is heading, both the unsuccessful candidates who fall by the wayside, and the survivors who wallow in the waste side.
